Breaking in the New Backpack

We Bought a "new to us" backpack from this awesome giant consignment sale (JFBsale) my friend Kristin told me about. It was really the one thing we wanted and we scored! 

So we decided to head back to South Valley Park and break it in. Only thing is it was super windy, I mean SUPER windy. Poor River didn't last very long. So we took refuge up against some rock and let River and Charlie play in the sand. 

Good news is the Backpack worked great, Bad news Spring is still eluding us. I swear anytime we try to go do something outside the weather is awful. Come on Colorado, we don't just need blue skies, we need that wind to "make like a tree and get outta here". We're ready to go play.

Here we go! First time in our backpack.

River wasn't too sure about the backpack until he got up on dad's back and could look around.

River preferred playing in the sand to hiking n the wind. (I don't blame him.)

Buds.  Charlie went over and sat next to River like this. He's very protective now and barks an all dogs that we come across. Annoying, but sweet that he loves River that much.

BEST BUDS. River loves his daddy or rather "dadum" . He doesn't say mom at all. It's always "dadum? dadum?" He can't even wait fro Sky to go to the bathroom. He's always banging on the door, "dadum!?!"

River loves Charlie, even when Charlie tries to sit on him to be a part of the pack.

The next sequence cracks me up. River's telling me something he finds hilarious.

So now we have a backpack for the Boy, who wants to go hiking with us?!?!

When Nana Comes to Play

IT'S PARTY TIME!!

We all love it when Nana comes for a visit. 

River, Skyler, Me and even Charlie. 

ALL of US Love to see our Nana.

Here's a list of the fun things we did while she was here:

1. Tagawa Gardens

It was fun to wander around the green houses and feel like srping was already here. Plus we learned all about Fairy Gardens, pretty cute stuff.

2. Denver Zoo

River loved Riding on top of the Stroller and seeing the animals with Nana. We wore him out and he got too tired to see his favorite part, the aquariums. So Nana you'll have to come back!

"What? A preztel bigger than my head?" Awesome!" Thanks Nana for the yummy treat!

3. Voodoo Donuts

When we were in Portland this was on my list of things to do, but it didn't work out. So i was super excited when my friend Rachel told me they opened one up in Denver. It was a must do while nana was here.

4. Park Meadow Mall

Oh how I have missed having a girl to go shopping with. I love shopping with my mom, she's so fun and we like all the same things. We have a good time!

We all get to be a little naughty when Nana's in town, cause it's special and she's just so nice. River gets to play with ipads and phones, drink big people drinks, and play with nana all day long. Charlie gets to eat all the people food Nana will sneak him when she thinks we're not looking, and even when she knows we are. And Skyler and I get to sluff off our responsibilities for a bit and enjoy being with Margo. It's so nice to have my Mom visit. She's so fun and so pleasant. We love having her.

and we love her to death!!

Don't stay away too long Nana, we've already started another list of fun things to do when you come again. :) And Charlie is missing his english muffins with peanut butter

Inspiration & Our Ward Cookbook

Been loving this photo and the colors drawn from it.

So I used it as inspiration.

I helped my awesome friend Kristin, with her ward cookbook project. I helped design the cover and title pages in it. Needless to say Kristin is the real hero for collecting and typing up all the different recipes. It took her a year, and I for one ADORE my Tuscany Ward cookbook and and I am so appreciative for her labor of love.

I paired a quote to go on the back on each of the Section Title pages to provide a little inspiration while cooking.

I really enjoyed working the project.
