Blossoms of Light

To begin celebrating Christmas we bundled up and went to see the Blossom of Lights at the Denver Botonical Gardens on 10th and York.

River's awesome bear fleece to keep warm. Thanks Leslie and Trevor!

If you look in the upper right corner you can see part of the girls' body that fell right
as i took this picture. See her white jacket? Kind of funny.

Check out those rosy cheeks and nose. No Worries, this was just a funny face he made, he really did have a fun time. He was "talking" as we walked around, which means he's good.

It was fun to spend time together as a family.
Although a little chilly, it was fun to walk around with the sparkling lights and soft falling snow. River liked seeing the lights, Skyler liked sliding around on the icy walks, and I liked spending time with my two favorite boys.

A Onesie kind of Afternoon

Our Version of the the barricade in Les Mis.

So close to letting go.
watching Sesame Street with Charlie
those are my knees people, come on keep it clean.
Anything can become a phone, including a lens cap. "Hello, Nana?"

Making mommy so nervous that I'll fall of the couch so she puts the camera down to play.

Sometimes you just have to kick it in your underwear.

(He's just like his daddy, if you know what I mean ;)

With a little help . . .

With a little help River is walking all over the living room. He's actually quite speedy. Only thing is he doesn't know how to turn, so he gets stuck on obstacles occasionally. But he doesn't seem to mind, he just smiles and laughs.

River meets Santa

Durring a random stop to take a break from traffic on the way back from Colorado Springs, we stopped  into the Pro Bass Shop and who should appear?

Jolly Ol' Saint Nicholas!!

Thank goodness Santa had little candy cane treats and the lady behind the camera snapped this before River knew what was going on.

Thanks Pro Bass Shop for the free photo!

Funny Hubbie

I am thankful for a husband that makes me laugh everyday, even when I don't feel like laughing.

I asked sky to scan some pictures for me and this is what I found when I went to look at the files.

Too funny honey. That's why I love you.

Celebrating in Estes Park : Catch the Glow Parade

The Day after Thanksgiving we headed up to Estes Park with our awesome friends, the Clarks, and went to the Catch the Glow Parade and other festivities. It was way fun. We usually don't get into the holiday spirit until right before Christmas so this was really nice to starts things early.  They had an awesome reindeer and I thought his wrangler was equally as awesome.  We went and shopped the mountain shops on Elkhorn Ave, grabbed some free cookies, and watched the parade. It got pretty cold and we were all bundled up, but we really had a great time.
Thanks Rachel for finding such a fun thing to go do!

Looks like River is in the early stages of hyperthermia ;)

It was so much fun to be in a little mountain town. It made me miss living in Loveland and being so close to all that., but I don't miss being so far from everything else. We'll have to go up next fall during the Elk Rut. That's always an exciting season.

Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Of all our thanksgiving tradions, my favorite is that Skyler makes Dinner. Last year, we had just brought River home from the hospital and I was, well, a little out of it. So Sky took the reins and made dinner, and this year he did it again. He makes a delicious spread. In fact we ate so much at dinner that pie had to wait until the next day.
Thank you sweetheart, I am so grateful for you!

We have so many wonderful things to be grateful for. We've been abundantly blessed. Favorite blessings- our cute little family, our miraculous son, and the joy and peace that comes from the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Happy Turkey Day everyone! Gobble Gobble!

Getting Crafty - A Car Seat Cover

My Sweet friend Amy is about to pop, with her second son, so the pressure was on to finish my gift to her, a car seat cover made by hand and with love. When River was born our friend Mandee made me a cute cover that I loved to death and used even more (Click HERE to see her adorable aprons). Best part -- it had a window that I could peek in to make sure my little dude was doing good. River was born in the winter and in the middle of the sick season, but I felt that my little cover protected him, and gave me peace of mind. I thought it was a thoughtful gift and I wanted to pass along the love.

And here is the end result:

Baby Tested, Baby Approved!! -thanks river-

Details of fabric combo & peeking window.

Amy- I hope your little dude arrives on the scene soon!! Thanks for being an awesome friend! I hope this cover keeps his safe and warm :)

ps. I stole this pic of the car seat cover Mandee made me from her facebook page. Isn't it so cute!?!!

Today River got eaten by a Giraffe at the Zoo

Ok maybe it was just a nibble, but I guess River just looked so so yummy.

1. the approach

2. going in for the full on face contact and licking

3. River's reaction, -- duck lips of disgust!

4. Dad's reaction

Hey if this was coming at your face, you would do some duck lips too!

More to come from our Saturday Adventure to the Cheyenne Zoo in Colorado Springs, but this was too good not to share immediately. :)
