So CAL : Part I
Look how Curly Cute River's hair goes in humidity. Looks so cute.
We tagged along on one of Daddy's work trip. This time we ran around the Coast of Southern California, starting in San Diego. While Daddy ran around working, River and I played in Mission Bay (we could see Sea world from the beach), swam in the world's most awesome baby pool, and took crazy long naps.
(ok I watched HGTV while River napped and it was AWESOME!).
We were there during a crazy heat wave, so the pool was the place to be.
Crazy HOT
Besides getting to go places, I love going with Skyler on his trips because we get to see him in the Evenings when work is over. We miss him terribly when he's away traveling, so going with him keeps us all together and I love that. It works for our little family.
One Evening we went to Old Town. We picked up our favorite licorice treats, and then ate at our Favorite Restaurant, The Cosmopolitan Hotel. There was a down pour while we were in the restaurant and the cool wet air was such a welcomed relief.
Old town is fun to walk around and see. I found beautiful glass stars last time we were there, for River's angels. I hope to hang them in one of our windows with their names.
We visited the Mormon Battalion Historic Site. If you have an hour, they have a cool interactive tour, but River couldn't handle that so we just we panned for gold and pumped some water. River had a blast. I appreciate the sweet sister missionary from Honk Kong who showed us back and chatted with us for awhile, snapping our little family shot.
We decided River should have a picture in the Wagon just like his daddy's.
Wait.... you haven't seen that amazing picture?
Well, it's your lucky day cause here it is:
Classic!
Sorry, River, daddy's picture is still the best.
We can try again next month when we go back for Shelby & Jimmy's Wedding.

Retro-Adventure : Monterey Bay Aquarium
So here's the first of many Retro-Adventures (post of Adventures gone by, but that still rock in their awesomeness).
Last year while Skyler was going through his uber training for work, he was in California for almost a whole month, so I flew out for a weekend visit and we explored the coast of Northern Cali.
First stop, the Monterey Bay Aquarium. SPECTACULAR! It was huge and the exhibits were awesome. We loved every minute there and spent the entire day watching the marine life swim under water.
Did you know that it was my childhood dream to become a Marine Biologist? That is, until I watched the movie jaws. After that I couldn't get into a swimming pool or any body of water with out the fear or what lurked beneath until I was like 16. I love Oceans, but deep swimming still freaks me out a bit.
Skyler has a deep love of sea turtles. I think they are his favorite animals. He's told me that if he ever strikes it rich he's going to open a sea turtle sanctuary just so he can swim with them whenever he wants.
