Our friends the Mitchells scored a screaming deal on tickets, so thank you very much Amy & Jeff!
The Colorado Symphony played a concert with a few Star Wars songs {not enough for either Jeff or Skyler}, come Patriotic Songs {God Bless the USA was my favorite, but really my all time favorite is Neil Diamond's America}.
It was fun to sit on blankets and listen while River played with his little buds. He basically adopted himself into the Clark Family for the night. Thanks guys for including him! Amy's Mom brought glow sticks for the kids and they all loved them. Thanks Amy's Mom!

Then the fireworks!
We didn't know how River would handle them so we grabbed him and cuddled him in between us. Yeah, that didn't last long. He LOVED the fireworks and wiggled out from between us and made his way back to the Clarks to sit on their blanket and watch the sparkling lights in the night sky with excitement.
For me as a mom, it felt like a different kind of independence day.
My little boy is getting so independent.
He loves to do things by himself.
I see him becoming a strong and independent person.
It's a good thing. I love who River is,
but I miss my baby who'd just sit and cuddle in my arms.
Thank godness he still cuddles before he goes to bed,
or I might die from heartbreak.
Happy Independence Day!
Hangin' with his buds. |
