To Celebrate 6 years of being married, we visited Rocky Mountain National Park. We hiked up around the Beaver Meadow Area and it was so wonderful to get out and roam amongst the pine and grasses. We've been having Rain and Thunderstorms here basically every afternoon the whole month and that afternoon was no exception. It rained right as we got to the trailhead, so we waited for it to pass and then headed out. The recent rain magnified the smell and I breathed deep to fill my lungs with it. River Boy loved coming along for the ride in his bjorn. He kick his legs and squawked happily the first 15 mins and then fell asleep with the gentle rocking of me waddling along the trail. It's kind of a challenge not seeing your feet as you hike.
Skyler and I did what we do best, we walked and talked and talked and talked with each other. Laughing, being silly, getting deep, and basically just enjoying each other and our surroundings. I laughed as I thought about how much Skyler has changed me. He shared his passion for being outdoors with me and now I crave it.
Also, to celebrate we got one of Colorado's True Treasures . . .
A Cherry Pie from Colorado Cherry Company.
I was too busy eating my pie i forgot to take a picture, so i borrowed this one from their website http://www.coloradocherrycompany.com |
Seriously so yummy, we're talking lick-your-plate-clean-in-public delicious. We've only found them on the way to the park, so I don't know if we went to go to the park, or really for the pie. They have lots of other yummy stuff there like jams, syrups, ciders, salsas, and much much more.
But Really the Slice of Cherry Pie is worth the trip.
