River on the day you turned 10 months, You CRAWLED!!
It was a legit crawl, moving on all fours to get to where you wanted to go (yes the slat blinds). Both Dad and I were there as witnesses to declare with out a doubt that you in fact crawled. It wasn't something you just got up and did one day. No son, you worked so hard at it. You were very determined. Your cute little knees are red from rubbing on the carpet, but you are so happy with yourself. I find myself beaming with pride about how well you are doing. With our start, i thought you'd be so behind, but you always reach for the stars and surpass any and all expectations.
You are growing up and it is so fun to see the little person you are. You prefer anything that's real to a plastic toy. But your ultimate toy is Charlie Dog. You roll around the room to get close to him, but when you get there and grab his fur he gets up and moves away. Charlie is a good sport and so gentle and tender with you. He'll come and cuddle with us on the couch and let you grab his ears and lips and fur. You love to smoosh your face into his fur and leave it slobbery. He doesn't quite know what to do when you wrestle his bone away from him and start chewing on it . . . and neither do I. Gross, River. Your puppy loves you baby. We all do.
You Daddy loves you so much. I love to see you two together, especially when he's carrying you around. Everyone says you look just like him. He works so hard for you, for us. He does his best to come home and spend time with you. Throwing you in the air as you giggle, laying on the floor letting you play will his hair, and on saturday mornings making sure you get exposed to comic book cartoons (justice league). You were mesmerized by his red beard, and you always reach up and play with his face when he rocks you to sleep. He's a great daddy.
I like to call you mr. magoo, although your hair is starting to come in a little bit more. You have one hair that's longer than the rest and it always makes me smile when i see it. You have your daddy's marshmallow puff feet, which are my fave. But I think you have my blue eyes. Everywhere we go people are just drawn to you, commenting on how "beautiful" you are. The poor lady at Cafe Ambrosia tries so hard to get you to smile every time, but you're a shy little fellow and surprisingly serious. You diligently watch other people and i can see you little mind trying to figure things out. But you are a wonderful mix of serious and silly, especially when you get tired. You are quick to smile at those you know, especially me and daddy.
You've become very ticklish on your tummy and neck. I love to hear you laugh. And it always brighten my heart when you smile at me from across the room. You're my little buddy, and together with Charlie we make up what dad calls "our little gang", we go everywhere together, even jogging in the morning.
OH my gosh, you love swimming, which makes me so happy because you get that from me. You even went swimming in the freezing lake at the cabin and loved it! Bath time is a joy! I love to see you playing and splashing. It's so cute. You're such a little fish!
Much to my dismay, you sleep on your tummy. As soon as we lay you down in your crib, you instantly roll to your tummy. And you sleep so soundly. Most mornings you sleep in until 8:00 or 8:30. Thank you so much for that. It helps me so much, because I am not very much a of a morning person. :)
You love to go and do, which is wonderful.
You are growing so much. I want to remember everything. How you sound when you sleep, how milk runs down you chin when you have a bottle, how you reach around and hold onto my hair as we walk around, how you lay on you daddy and relax at night, how you chase charlie around the family room. All the perfect imperfect moments.
Thank you for being so wonderful.
I am a blessed mother, and we are a blessed family.
And here are some more pictures of you bugging... I mean PLAYING with your favorite toy.
