An Owl Quilt For Baby Lincoln

So now that it's been given as a gift and no longer a secret, here are some pictures of the Owl Quilt I made for my Sister's new baby, Lincoln.

She loves the Color combo of Lime Green and Black, hence the Green Feathered Friend. I talked with my friend Sheri, who's an expert quilter, about how to sew in the trim and after a lot of thought I just jumped in and did and I think it's my favorite part.

I found the pattern for the Owl while stalking my other super creative and crafty friend Rachel, on Pinterest. Here's a link to download the Owl Patter from sewsimple.com

River's Log -- Star Date : 6 Months

6 months, how did it happen?

You do so much more now River boy. It's funny to think back on the early premie days when you'd just eat and sleep. Now you love to play. You do "sit ups" with your dad and love it. Your favorite toy is a small stuffed bunny Aunt Tracey gave you for easter. Honey Bunny goes everywhere with us and her ears are always in your mouth. You chew on your fingers nonstop, even trying to sneak them in when you're drinking a bottle. You are very strong! You hold your head up without any help and you are learning to sit up with some support.

You love your Charlie dog. You have begun to play with his fur and pet him when he sits next to us while you eat. You love to lay on him and smile as your wiggle your head around on his soft fur. Charlie always checks on you when you take naps. He wanders into your room or lays by you when you're in the bouncer. He lays with his head close to you when your playing on the floor.

Changing your diapers has become such a social and fun time. You love to talk and play and smile at me when we change your clothes. You love kicking you legs wildly when your in a onsie.

You are the sweetest boy. You have such a good temperament.
Your smiles are shy but powerful.
You're so much like your daddy, which makes my heart happy.

Oh my sweet baby, i just want to wrap you up in my arms and somehow slow down time. I'm realizing that you won't be a baby forever. Someday you won't want me to kiss you all over your face,  and you won't fit so snuggly in the crook of my arm, and I won't be able to carry you around with me everywhere we go. Nope, you'll grow up just like everyone else. One day you'll turn into a boy, then a teenager, and then a man. I find myself wondering who you will be when you grow up and hoping that I can help you become the best version of that. I'm excited for everything you'll do and everything you'll be.
And just know that we will love every day of your life and forever.

But for now my baby we'll play Peter Pan and Never Grow Up.
I'll love on you as much and as often as I can, even if that means I get nothing else done, because frankly nothing else matters as much as you do.
