River's 1st "Fourteener" : Pike's Peak with Nana and G.pop

A highlight from Nana and Grandpa Stevenson's visit was going to the top of Pikes Peak,  one of the 14,000 peaks in Colorado (14,110 to be exact).

We grabbed brunch at a yummy European Cafe  in Manitou Springs, and then caught the Cog Wheel Railway up to the top.

A View from the Top :

It was a lot of fun. River did really well even though it got windy and cold at the top, we just beat out a storm. Good thing we brought layers to bundle up. The landscape sure does change as you go up in elevation. It was a beautiful ride on the way up and the views from the summit were amazing! The donuts at the top were delicious and one of a kind, I mean how many donuts can you get that are cooked 14,000 ft up?
I guess that's why they're called "World Famous Pikes Peak Donuts"

What a fun fun day, but really any day we get to play with Nana and G.pop
are always Fun!

NICU Reunion : Then & Now

Every year Littleton Adventist has a reunion fro all the babies and their families that  ever where in the NICU and we got to go this year. It was a happy and fun experience. It made my heart smile seeing all the children and families that overcame a tough beginning. All the children were laughing and playing and ranged in all ages even up to high school grads.
I thought I was ready and I could handle it, but as soon as I saw River's nurses, I got really emotional. Those memories, and emotions kind of came flooding back. It was such a tender and spiritual time for us, and these people were such a big important part of it.

These beautiful Earth Angels mean so much to me. I will always love them and be grateful to them for what they did for my son and what they did for my family. I trusted them and I knew they would take care of my small son when I couldn't. And the amazing things is they do it everyday, for so many people with out even a second thought. So thank you for the miracles that you do everyday, for the time away from your family to help me with mine. We love you!

Thank you! Thank you! My Heart Sings!!

This is Heidi, one of River's Night Nurse. River's usually really shy around strangers, but when I handed him to Heidi he was calm and cuddled into her like he remembered and recognized her. It was a really tender sweet moment.

This is sweet sweet wonderful Joy, who helped me hold River for the first time and helped me be confidant in mothering such a tiny baby.
This is Kaye, our wonderful Nurse Practitioner that watched over River and kept us up to date on what was going on with him medically.
And my wonderful Nadine, who helped me find my voice when advocating my concerns for River.
They had us submit Then & Now pictures of our Premies and here are the Pictures we submitted for River.

It's Crazy how far he's come in such a short time.
